Their team has come up with a top ten list of important reminders for residents on the First Coast,
CENTURY 21 Lighthouse Realty’s TOP TEN hurricane tips:
Timing is everything…you always have less time than you think to be prepared.
Prepare for the worst, be ready for the worst. Don’t skimp on preparations.
Secure any possible projectiles or equipment and remove them from your yard, patio, porch or pool.
Have your hurricane shutters, garage door braces or other protective devices in place.
Ensure your car has a full tank of gas, you have adequate hurricane supplies and necessary wood panels for boarding up windows, glass panels and doors.
Have an evacuation plan – property is insured and replaceable, human life is not.
Ready your “safe room” if you plan on staying in your home: Have water, food, medicines, flash lights, batteries and a radio.
Secure your pets – be sure to have an ample supply of food and water for them.
Make a list of your emergency contacts, secure all important documents, bank statements and title deeds etc in a sealed water proof bag.
Avoid the rush! Don’t wait till the last minute.
